Wishing for Fall
Being from Missouri leaves much to be desired out of Fall and lets just say, North Texas is not cutting it! This weekend we decided it was time to stop denying that this, in fact, was north Texas's version of fall so we packed up the fam and went to the Pumpkin Patch. In honor of the occasion and the supposed "cold front" we decided to all dress in long sleeves just in case. We had to cut our trip to the patch short because we were all SWELTERING! It was really hot but all in all we had a great time and Titus loved it. He was way into the tractors, more so than the pumpkins or scarecrows this year.
Here are some pics and somethings to note as you look: 1) we have a dilemma, Titus is to skinny for anything bigger than 2T but too tall for anything shorter than 3T, this is not a problem in the summer with shorts, in fact the shorts he wore to church today were 18 months! But when he is wearing jeans...its an issue! 2) Vernon is wearing cowboy boots. 3) Titus really wanted a yard ornament scarecrow instead of a pumpkin and since it was only 2 bucks verses the crazy prices of pumpkins we caved. 4) We believe Titus has the gift of praise dancing. He often breaks out in dance when he hears music, only it almost always includes waving something in the air, in this case, the scarecrow acted as his praise banner.

Information Overload
Three of the last four weekends have been spent at "retreats." First a personal/family retreat to the DG conference. Second, my church's Women's retreat and Third, Stonegate Fellowship Girls Retreat. Granted the last two I was part of the leadership by worship through music, but all the same a lot of great Truths were received by my heart.
It is funny when Truths you learned as a youth keep rearing their head as an adult. It is like the enemy uses the same old tricks just disguised as something different. The Truth that seems to be overwhelmingly repetitive through out the last 4 weeks is. "what goes in is what comes out" or also said, "Garbage in, Garbage out, Truth in Truth out." It seems this is a life lesson that can never be taught enough in our day and age, where information about any and everything is a click away. It also seems that this lesson, in certain Christian circles, has become, "old school," as if to say it doesn't apply. For example, if a certain speaker got up and spoke about music or whatever it is that is filling your mind, and suggested that you pay attention to what is going in to your mind and getting rid of what doesn't glorify God, these certain said Christian circles would blow them off as teaching WWJD or something of the like. When all the while, we all, especially me, need to be reminded to observe what we are taking in so that we can take our thoughts captive and make them obedient to Christ.
Along with attending these conferences I have 'happened' upon two great articles on Un-pluging and Fasting from Information. I highly suggest you read them and pass them on to others. (they are both real short so dont worry)

As I was at the DG conference I loved the fact that I had NO Internet and i used my phone to communicate only with the ones we were at the conferences with (besides the phone call to Vonda to let her enjoy some of the conference). Then at the ladies retreat, my phone had no battery and i had no Internet. I got to enjoy a great jog through the trail around the lake and take in much missed silence. And again at the SGF retreat, my phone had little to know service and no Internet....great rest and focus. And through it all i was actually able to put my finger on areas in my life that were being affected negatively by subconscious thought from cultural noise. AMEN.

BEARCATS FOR LIFE
yes folks, today is SBU Homecoming, and not just any Homecoming, but my five year reunion Homecoming. Am I going? you ask, that would be a big NO. But of all the 2002 graduates I would guess that my desire to go is in the top 10%. I loved everyday of my SBU career. It was a place of spiritual growth, physical growth (haha) and of course Academic growth for me. I honestly cant think of any other place, except maybe Houston, where God molded me in every way. Not to mention all the friends and all the pranks! good times!
Now all you who are SBU Alumni in the DFW area, I expect to see you at the upcoming DFW SBU Alumni Picnic Saturday November 3 from 10-2! Andrea and Sarah I am talking to you!

Honored and Privileged
These were the two words I kept thinking during the Desiring God Conference this year. I was so honored to be able to sit under the teaching of such incredible Saints, whose lives have stood the test of time. Each of them spoke on the theme, Stand: a call for the endurance of the saints. Each of the spoke from different angles and passages but all with the same plea: Endure until the end....make the Name and Renown of the Lord known until your very last breath. It was Dr. Jerry Bridges, Dr. John MacArthur, Randy Alcorn, Dr. Helen Roseveare and Dr. John Piper.
Two of the speakers are personal Heroes of mine, Dr. Helen Roseveare and Dr. John Piper.
Although I have sat under Dr. Piper's teaching for years, through Passion, DesiringGod.org, DG Conferences, many a cassette tape and now many a CD or Mp3 download, I had never had the privilege of sitting under the teaching of Dr. Roseveare, and honestly, outside of quotes in biographies of her life, I had never heard a word from her. But oh the joy and privilege it was to here her speak, possible for the last time in such a setting.

While my friend Moe previously posted about how she is, "trying to grow up and not love pot-smoking college-music," I on the other hand, turned down many a DMB concert while in college and now that i am an "adult" I decided I could handle it! For Moe's credit, she did regret her decision. So more on that to come. Allison L Richmond and Katie Gerli this night will not be the same without you.

RAMADAN
Today is the day that around the world Muslims of all races start a 30 day fast to commemorate the receiving of the Qur'an. They are to fast from sun up until sundown. In addition, "Muslims are encouraged to read the entire Qur'an. 
Muslims tend to perform the recitation of the entire Qur'an by means of special prayers, called Tarawih, which are held in the mosques every night of the month, during which a whole section of the Qur'an (‘Juz', which is 1/30 of the Qur'an) is recited, so that by the end of the month the entire Qur'an has been completed" stated this very informative article from Wikipedia.

Millions of Muslims will be participating in Ramadan. This is a great time to begin relationships with Muslims around you, asking them about their faith and why they fast. in bed after the prayer

Titus: but not God (long thoughtful pause) because He is God (referring to Jesus)
at target after a lady startled me by banging though the warehouse doors in the back,
Me: whoa! that scared me
Titus: Mom, you should just trust God then you wont be scared.
Me: oh, thanks for reminding me of the Truth!

I love that his mind is being formed by the Truths of God's Word! I had to laugh though after the conversation about mercy i later found out he thinks mercy is a "she" and it is an actual object or person Jesus is going to show us! i love it! so i explained it to him just as we do every once in a while when we withhold a deserved punishment, that the action of with holding a due punishment is called mercy. He just nods and keeps on playing. Lord, One day, may it be soon, would you set Titus apart for Your work, call him to Yourself and save his little sweet soul.

its been one week...
not really, but that song has been in my head since i heard it on the radio on the way to Andrea Bowmans birthday party. Its funny that i remember sooo many of the words! I remember trying so hard to memorize that song because it was so hard to learn, and i guess all that was good for, in the scheme of life, is that one day i will giggle and bust into song when it makes it on one of those ridiculous, "you know you went to high school in the late nineties if..." surveys.
It has been quite a while since i blogged, so to all of you who each day get up anticipating an update, i am sorry. Please dont give up on me. hehe! Adjusting to the new school year has been a lot harder than i remember it being the last two semesters. I guess it is because i have a lot more commitments this year, ALOT more friends in the metroplex and i LOVE the college students from our church and they are back from the summer. (not to mention i have taken on some side jobs like making journals and paintings for people and doing Pre-school with Titus at home)
So I will dedicate the rest of this post to our sweet son Titus. (i added a new pic to our blog)
*He is Three and let me tell you there is a BIG difference from Two to Three just take a look at our family photo to your right and then his three year old picture, that is only one year difference. It is like he went from a little Toddler to a Pre-Ker.
*He loves to be read to, and when i say LOVES to i mean, HOURS worth. If the story is good he could listen for ever!
*He also enjoys pretending to be David (he makes me be Goliath and i have to fall dead when he sling-shots me), superman (by putting a blanket around his neck and running around) and of course, Bob the Builder. If you need anything fixed, Titus is your man, but you must refer to him as Bob.
*He loves to play on the computer. He now has mastered the ability to open the laptop, open the Internet, navigate himself to elmosworld.com and play whatever game he likes. crazy huh!
*He is a little barista, he can now officially make a perfect shot of espresso, start to finish. Scoop the beans, tamp them just right, put the pod on the machine, press the shot button, watch for the creme to hit the 2oz line and press stop. amazing. He can also count out four scoops of whole bean coffee, put them in the grinder and grind the coffee for the coffee maker. We enjoy this together every morning as we make daddy his drink and take it to him in his office.
*He has mastered most of his letters and their sounds, all his shapes and colors, sorting, picking out what doesnt belong in a group and connecting the same items in different columns with lines.
*He is mostly potty-trained (he still wheres a pullup or diaper at night and nap mostly because i dont want to clean up the mess)
*He says funny phrases like "just chillin" when asked what he is doing. He refers to his pants as his drawers. and when he exits a room he has been known to nod his head and say "peace."
There is so much more, but i will spare you. Thanks for reading! hopefully i cant capture some of these things on camera and post them soon!

I am addicted
or something of the like. with this, long awaited, album.
don't waste time. just buy it. it will not disappoint.
a little story.
while in MO vernon and i went to a beloved coffee shop to spend time reading our Bible and writing. while reading, the music kept distracting me. About every 2 mins i would tap on vernon's shoulder and say "hey babe, this sounds like robbie seay," followed by a nod from him as if he didnt understand the big deal and i would say, "but i ve never heard this song and i am certain that i have EVERY song of his that has been recorded." He would nod again and continue reading. I would try hard to focus and then yet another unknown song would come on, i would listen to see if it could possibly be any one other than RSB and then have the aforementioned conversation. After about three rounds of this vernon said, "why dont you just go ask." "What a brilliant Idea," i thought. So i got up and found the nearest worker. She went to the back and confirmed it to be the RSB. only that news was followed by, "it comes out August 28th." mixed with emotions i thought, "i am so glad it was RBS but Aug 28 that is 14 more days!" followed by the thought, "i know many a person who could possibly get there hands on an early copy for me" to which my conscience responded, "no amber, be a good fan, wait and be the first to buy." so that is what i did. and God rewarded my waiting. I got it for 7.99 on itunes for getting it so quickly and i got an extra, only on itunes, track with Shane & Shane. So, moral of the story is DONT WAIT ANY LONGER JUST GO BUY IT.

What's On the Menu Monday
This is a fun meal to make when lots of people are coming over. It is one that people can join in and help, or you can do it yourself. If someone is cooking with you, split duties by assigning the waffles to one group and the Topping to another. If you are doing this alone, turn on waffle iron and prepare the waffle mixture. Then prepare the topping and let it sit while you cook the waffles. This is an AMAZING meal, full of down home taste!
Creamy Poblano Chicken and Cornbread Waffles
TOPPING:
3 Tbs butter
1 large sweet Onion, chopped
2 poblano chile pepper, seeded and diced
3 garlic cloves, minced
4 chicken breasted cut to bit-sized
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
cracked red pepper to taste
garlic salt to taste
1 can cream of chicken and mushroom soup (10 3/4oz)
1 conainer sour cream (8 oz)
1 package of shredded harp Chedder Cheese
Melt butter in a deep skillet with lid on. Add onion, chile pper, and garlic; saute 5 min. Add Chicken, salt, and pepper; cook, stirring often, 8-10 min or until chicken is done. Stir in Soup and sour cream until smooth. Add garlic salt and red pepper. Add Cheese, and cook 5-7 mins until cheese is melted and it is nice and creamy. Serve on top of the Cornbread Waffles.

Spray waffle iron and cook just like you would regular waffles.
This is a fun meal to make when lots of people are coming over. It is one that people can join in and help, or you can do it yourself. If someone is cooking with you, split duties by assigning the waffles to one group and the Topping to another. If you are doing this alone, turn on waffle iron and prepare the waffle mixture. Then prepare the topping and let it sit while you cook the waffles. This is an AMAZING meal, full of down home taste!
Creamy Poblano Chicken and Cornbread Waffles
TOPPING:
3 Tbs butter
1 large sweet Onion, chopped
2 poblano chile pepper, seeded and diced
3 garlic cloves, minced
4 chicken breasted cut to bit-sized
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
cracked red pepper to taste
garlic salt to taste
1 can cream of chicken and mushroom soup (10 3/4oz)
1 conainer sour cream (8 oz)
1 package of shredded harp Chedder Cheese

Reasons to Celebrate

so many things to say today as we transition back into the routine of new school year. The crazy travel life of the summer is winding down and the rigorous schedule of school and work are cranking up. So i thought i would start this laborious season with Celebration. My Best Friends Wedding
I guess I have known for years this weekend would come but little did I know the effect it would have on me. I have been full of so much joy and remembrance. I have reflected on the life and the friends that God brought into my life and have been overwhelmed with thankfulness towards our Great Gracious Lord.
For over a month now I have wanted to write this blog. I have sat down and tried many times and it just ended in tears (or Titus woke up from his nap)! I have so many memories I want to write out so that they are never forgotten. So here goes.
Dear Sweet Friend Danny,
My family and I have been forever blessed by your friendship to us. I have been thinking through all the fun and laughter we have shared, the hard times and the great times. You have been a friend to us, a loyal, true friend, and we are forever grateful. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that when you came up to Connie and I at Esquire after the song “Better Is One Day” and introduced yourself, that 9 years later my husband would be a part of your wedding! Isn’t God so good!
I couldn’t think of a good way to begin this list, no clever intro or anything, but here is a list of some of my favorite memories. May the Lord give us so many more as He graciously joins your heart with Mallory’s!
In no particular order:
• Climbing Chapel and getting everyone on campus…those sags!
• You and Trevor always dressing up for intramural volley ball
• The crazy trip to Colorado Skiing! So fun!
• The life changing drive to Atlanta MO. Our first John Piper sermon. Thank you Zack and Jen!
• The Carthage’s D-Now. You preach about being “Bold as a Lion.” There is something mysteriously magical about that town.
• Skipping finals to go to ONEDAY! The drive, the anticipation, the camping.
• This could be one of my all time favorite memories, Standing on a bank the night before oneday. You, Me, Aaron Cline and a little AW Tozer.
• Me telling you about Vernon, you meeting Vernon and from that moment on yall’s oddly metro obsession with one another’s physique.
• Preaching class. Sitting between you Jerrel passing notes and trying not to crack up laughing the entire time.
• Baptist Denom. With Dr. Fuhrman, best and worse class EVER. Best people, worst course. I think I have laughed more about this class than any other.
• Greek with Dr. Reeves. So many from this class, but the one that stands out is the day we stayed after because at random Dr. Reeve’s mentioned that it is likely that the Beloved Disciple is not John.
• Jack trading his entire Fantasy Football team for Amber Gaddis and Zack Atchley’s SBU Worship team!! HAHA!
• The Duh video.
• Eva Cassidy’s version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
• The E.V Hill sermon at his wives funeral that you and Aaron had on cassette!
• You and Vernon living together in Houston.
• When you got the new Shane and Shane CD and we blasted it at the Intern house. We declared Beauty for Ashes as the wedding song of the year and in less than a year later was in our wedding!
• The day I asked you to marry me! Hehe! But what I meant was perform part of the wedding, and it came out wrong! Haha!
• You forever correcting my grammar and me being forever grateful!
• Being a part of our wedding.
• You driving all the way to Midland to meet baby Titus, you will never know how much this meant to us.
• The night we sat in your mom’s driveway in Raytown and you told me all about Mallory.
• The DG Conference last year.
• Taking Titus and I to Uno’s on the plaza.
• The plethora of Texts and phone calls that have been so timely for both me and Vernon.
As you join you life with Mallory, may the memories continue. We love you Danny and are so excited for you!

CAM, Family Fun and Issac's Surgery

- We have had quite a ride the last week and half. I took Titus to Midland for Camp Aunt Martha (CAM) where two of my Aunts had a ball with two of the great nephews. It was a little boys dream! Everything from power-tools with Uncle Bruce to Horse back Riding! They even had registration and camp shirts! Hopefully i will have some pics up soon!
- We arrived back in Fort Worth on Wed. and My sister, her husband and three boys arrived at our home on Thurs! Saturday all the Aunts, Uncles and Cousins that live in Texas came from their towns to see my sisters family. (it is not often that they make it to TX so it is a big Gaddis event!) I have a video of Titus and his two cousins pretending to be in a band, it is hilarious! I will work on posting it as well.
- On to the most exciting news... Issac's Surgery is this weekend! Robin and Megan just made it to Kenya to meet up with Issac. Please Please follow along on the Sudan Blog and pray pray pray! if you don't know the story of this sweet orphan click here. We are so excited for this day and SOOOO thankful to all who have made it possible!

What's on the Menu Monday
Chicken Spaghetti
1/4 chopped onion- brown in 2 Tbls butter
1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
1/2 cup Water
1 cup shredded colby jack cheese (i put 1-2/2 or 2 cups)
3 chicken brest diced and sauteed in olive oil and garlic
12oz of spaghetti (i use whole wheat)
Brown onions in butter. Once they are browned add soup, then water, then cheese and chicken. Stir until creamy (i add some garlic salt and cracked red pepper for more flavor) and add cooked pasta. Serves 4 to 5.

Knowing You- Passion 99- this song represents all that I learned and long to become. So many dear friends and mentors pored Truth into my life and for this i am forever indebted. From Matt Kearns to Harvey Kinisel to William Taylor to Bob Caldwell to Mary and Roger Bridgwater to Beth Moore, my life was shaped and molded by the these sweet people. Their lives showed me that in Knowing Jesus, there is NO greater thing. Oh to know the power of His Risen Life and to Know Him in His suffering, I saw in them the Truth and was forever spurred on.
All I Want- The Smith Band- Anyone remember Metro? I will never forget when this CD came out. I remember walking into Metro and getting so excited that this was the week the CD would be there! I bet i listen to this track a hundred times. It was exactly what my heart was singing. All I want is YOU. We've come to Declare- Jami Smith- Jami was also a worshipleader at Metro. And yes, I admit, i secretly wanted to be her one day. But this song was sang by many people at the time and for some reason the way she arranged it forever stuck with me. I went on to lead it as often as SBU and Springhill would allow! sorry if i ruined it for you! Hallelujah We are Free! We have Come to Declare the Beauty of the LORD!
Pure and Holy Passion- Candi Pearson- while we are talking about "amber gaddis songs" I will skip to this beloved song. I first heard this song in the SBU chapel when Passion did the Pre-Oneday rally. (Oct. 99) I wrote it in my journal and as quickly as i could get to my guitar I tried to figure it out. I sang it in my heart until i heard it again at Oneday in May 00. That entire summer it was the prayer of my heart, i wrote it in my journal, prayed it for my friends and for myself. It wasnt until the following fall that it came out on CD. And you better believe I was skipping class the day it came out!
Your Renown- Shaun Groves- Jonas did this song the summer of '02. Jeff Carson was an intern that year and quickly made this song his own. I will always hear this song in your voice Jeff. Lord its Your Renown that I live for now.
I am One- Jonas- or any song by Jonas for that matter. This song was the theme of the Houston Project. Jake Smith Jr., Josh Welker, Jasmine and Kyle, Steve P. and Chris- Your lives and music ministered to so many those summers. May you be forever blessed.

You Said- Shane and Shane- I used this song in our Devo times the summer of '02, one time specifically we used it in the sactuary as each one asked God for the nations. and I used so many many many other songs of shane and shane.
Breathe- Kathryn Scott- Does anyone remember that Clear Vision Sketch to this song about the husband and wife who are in a closed country who were being held hostage? Woah. I have seen that A LOT of times and i cry every time. May Vernon and I be that strong in You oh Lord.
Reveal- By the Tree- I will never forget the summer when Chuck wrote this song. I remember laying on the floor at Camp Ethel (logan valley) and Jerrell playing this song for us over the sound system. It was so powerful. Can I be close to you? Can i just touch you Lord? It went on to be released the following year and was a hit in the summer at the Houston Project!
Beloved- By the Tree- oldschool- This brings it back yall. WAY to many memories to write about this one.

Take a Guess.
okay folks, a couple of weeks ago i took a remembrance trip to Houston. I made a playlist on my Ipod of "Remember Houston Songs." Of all that I wanted on the list, some didn't make it due to my lack of archiving the song my Itunes but they were there in my heart non-the-less. Are you ready for the challenge? Okay. Some hints...i started going to Houston in 1999 and moved away in 2003. This particular list of songs were mostly, but not limited too, worship songs.
(and some of you who never comment...this would be a great time to show your stuff!)

sorry to all of you who are readers of the WOMM i have been a bit crazy this summer so i will try to make it up to you. Here is an easy one to get going again.
BBQ Chicken Pizza
3 Chicken Breast (smart chicken or at least anti-biotic and hormone free)
KC Master Piece Spice Hot BBQ Sauce
2 Cups colby jack shredded cheese
1 cup chopped red onion
1 can grand biscuits (off brand saves money)
Place BBQ sauce in the bottom of a skillet like you would olive oil or something you were sauteing with. Chop chicken breast in to bit size pieces and saute in BBQ sauce. Meanwhile take the biscuits and press them out onto a pizza pan or a cookie sheet. Once biscuits are pressed put a BBQ sauce layer and then the onions. When chicken is done place the chicken on the pizza than top it with cheese. Cook at 350 for 10 mins or until cooked through.
This is a great 20 min meal that is great on the fly. In fact i made it up two days ago because i was trying to get rid of some BBQ sauce and some biscuits and avoid going to the store!

Place BBQ sauce in the bottom of a skillet like you would olive oil or something you were sauteing with. Chop chicken breast in to bit size pieces and saute in BBQ sauce. Meanwhile take the biscuits and press them out onto a pizza pan or a cookie sheet. Once biscuits are pressed put a BBQ sauce layer and then the onions. When chicken is done place the chicken on the pizza than top it with cheese. Cook at 350 for 10 mins or until cooked through.
This is a great 20 min meal that is great on the fly. In fact i made it up two days ago because i was trying to get rid of some BBQ sauce and some biscuits and avoid going to the store!

Three Parties for Three years
Yes it is true. Titus had one birthday party for each of his years of life. One in Missouri, One in Midland and one here in DFW. Here are some snapshots from the last two. We were in Midland on Titus's actual birthDAY so we celebrated with the community group we use to be a part of. They all brought there children and we had a water party in the backyard...to top it off, our sweet friend who wanted so badly for the party to be at her house was due to have her third child THAT DAY! she hosted a party for my son on HER DUE DATE! she is every woman. seriously. The party here in DFW was a double party with Titus's best bud, Jackson Smith. It was a Bob the Builder party. All kinds of friends from the church and around the area came. It was great! Star was a great host and so kind to let us share in the fun! All in all Titus had a great Birthday, it will be remembered as the birthday that never ends. It seems each day he has a new present waiting at our door when we get home from the YMCA. I guess it is really fun to buy presents for three-year-old boys!

Every night before bed Titus and I review his memory verses. Tonight i decided to see if he would let me record him with our new laptop. He did and this is what came of it...
Over the weekend Titus turned 3 years old! i can not believe it. There is so much to blog about but i will have to do that....maybe tomorrow...if youre lucky! hehe!
oh and a video blog would not be complete without ones abc's...

A List As Well
I haven’t blogged since right after camp but never you fear, plenty has been worth blogging. It is just hard to decide what is of great value after many days have passed. I was reading my friend Moe's blog and she inspired me too, instead of feeling overloaded by the numerous amount of things to blog, make a list of them. So below is my list....in no particular order. But first an ebsert from moe's blog explaining the list.
In the past week or so, nearly every day something has come to my attention that has incurred the thought, "I should blog about that." But said blogging never occurred. So instead I'm going to get back on the train by making a list. Of stuff. No topic or purpose--just a list of whatever I want to have on my list.
1. Dr. Reeves (my greek professor) book A Genuine Faith Faith just went out of print....Seriously this publishing company is making a very bad mistake. If you dont have it yet...BUY IT. READ IT. Hurry before no more are available. It will stretch your mind and make you think like never before. Oh and a bonus, in about 20 years when he is a famous theologian you can brag you have an original print.
2. Like my friend Amanda, pregnancy paranoia has hit. I bought a box of prego test today, took it. It was negative.
3. Three of our closest friend couples are Pregnant. We love you and are SOOO happy for you! (this might contribute a bit to my prego paranoia...just a little)
4. Titus turns 3 on Sunday.
5. I am about to have a non-potty-trained 3 year old and I am fully okay with that. We haven’t even given it a strong go. We've been traveling so much that it seems worthless to me to start when I am setting him up for failure by stringing him around the country and to be honest, all you moms of toddler boys, it really like potty training the mom not the son. You have to be fully willing to give time and effort and both I am lacking....maybe July will lend itself to less travel....we will see.
6. We leave tomorrow for Midland! Some of our great friends from there are getting married! I am one of the photographers and am WAY excited! I get to see all the students from camp again! Vernon will be speaking at Youth on Sunday!
7. Vernon has been teaching at our Church the last two Wednesday on Islam....It has been amazing and if you missed it....I am sorry.
8. About a month ago, while in Chicago, I got the new HilsongUnited "All of the Above" It hasnt come out of our CD player or off of my IPod since that day. It is GREAT. The girl on the album is seriously my new favorite voice. I often dream i am her and it is so real that i have to knock myself back into reality. GET IT. Seriouly. Or atleast go buy Lead Me to the Cross and Hosanna and both Selah's on Itunes.
9. The line from the above mentioned song "Hosanna" that has been my prayer for this month is
"break my heart and make it clean, open up my eyes to the things unseen, show me how to love like you have loved me."
The Lord has definitly been opening my eyes to sin in my life and its been a rough go, but the end has been so sweet.
10. thats all i just hated to end on 9, i dont know, it just didnt seem right.

It's Offially Summer
In my book it only takes one thing to make it offically the first day of summer and that very thing happened today....I wore my swimming suit the ENTIRE day. Yep, i put it on when i woke up and took it off to put my pjs back on....oh how i love summer. Titus and I played in the water today and then we went to the water park this afternoon. After the water park i grilled out for supper to celebrate this momentous occation. If you havent guessed...i love water and i love to swim and play.
Vernon's summer class is quite intencive so we wont be doing much daddy time during the day so my plan is to escape to our back yard to play in the hose or to go to our YMCA's water park as many times a week as possible!
For all of you who have been praying, Camp was AMAZING. It was above and beyond anything i could have expected. It was the best camp i have gone to in years. It was the most intentianal and most organized i can think of (and i ve been to ALOT!). The girls were eager to learn and recieved the WORD with Grace. AMEN. If you would, join me in prayer for the girls as they continue in what they learned now that they are home.

Live from Camp
Well i have a second to get online and update yall. We have a blog live streaming the audio, video and photos if you want to check it out click here.
The sessions are going great. What i love so far about this camp is its raw honesty. No frills, No waiting until the last day for decision making, its all real, all the time. I LOVE IT.
The day time and night activities have been GREAT FUN! Here are some photos from my talks and the costume contest...in which I WON! (i convinced the senior pastor to be my "dancing with the stars" partner!!!!!!!!! HAHAHA!)

And the Assignment is....
In my last blog i told you to study up on John 15 because i was going to give you all an assignment....so here it is...
I am going to be speaking at a High School Camp (starting Tues morning) to the girls. We will have three sessions of one hour to cover John 15 and the idea of Abiding. For the last session I am wanting to read to them what you respond to me....so PLEASE RESPOND! (and soon if you can!)
1) I am wanting all the girls to leave knowing that it IS worth it to ABIDE and REMAIN in Christ. So in one paragraph or so, what would you say to encourage these girls that it is worth it to stick the course?
2) What are some very practical ways that you ABIDE in Christ daily?
Okay friends please do write. and all of you secret readers....WRITE TOO!

Home At Last
Well i feel as though i should update and let everyone know we all made it home! Thanks for your prayers while we were away and while Vernon was in Sudan. We made it to our church prayer meeting tonight and it was sweet reunion with friends...although i will add that i missed seeing all the sweet college students. As we pulled up to the church, we turned the corner to park and Titus said from the back seat, "Its MY church!" It made my heart so happy to hear him say this. During our trip we went to several churches of friends and family members, but he knew this one was different. Its his church. amen.
I leave on Sunday again. I am speaking at a high school camp...and i am sooooo excited. I will be teaching 3 morning sessions (one hour a day) to about 60 high school girls. We are focusing on John 15 and more specifically the word ABIDE. Get your thinking caps going, read up on that passage, because in the next day or two i will have an assignment up for all of you and you MUST comment me some feed back. yes, you must.

Land of no Technology.
Just in case anyone wondered if I was alive...i am. I traveled to Missouri to see my mom and now on to see Vernon's family. I usually dont travel when Vernon is gone so that i can be available and easy to get a hold of. But this time i decide it would be fun to make the Missouri rounds. My family is from a very small town in rural northwest Missouri so even "hi-speed" Internet is an ordeal. I would get on long enough to check and see if Vernon had updated and that was about all i could handle! hehe! We had a GREAT time with my family. We went to three little league games to see my nephews play...so cute! Alot of the children on my nephew's team are children of my classmates and children of my cousins. So it was like this big reunion! haha! Everytime I come home my mom always throws an "amber's home party" where all my aunts uncles and cousins come and we have lots of fun. I love my family.
Now i am in St. Louis. Titus and I have been staying at Robyne's new house (vernon's step-mom) along with Phyllis (vernon's sister) and her two kids, Ladan (same age as titus) and Gabe (9 months). We have had so much fun! We have played and played outside, we had a party for the boys and we have gone to the zoo! The only down side is that Robyne just moved into the house so the Internet is not up yet! So, so much for me being easy to get a hold of! ha!

Sudan Bound...Again
Before i start this post about Vernon going to Sudan i better apologise for not having a recipe up on Monday. It was the day Vernon left and I was not about to give up some time to write a recipe. do forgive me. hehe.
Today is Wednesday and it is hard to believe that two days ago i was saying good-bye to the love of my life. One would think that Vernon's departure to Sudan would get easier with time but i would say it gets harder. I mean logistically it gets easier because we keep everything he takes to Sudan washed and together so all it takes is putting them in Ziploc bags and putting them in a back pack. But emotionally it is always hard. I think it is because we are growing so much closer together day by day and we are both so involved in the ministry in Sudan, that when he goes we are overwhelmed with emotions that usually do not exist simultaneously. Excitement, Sadness, Fear and Joy to name a few. There are statements people always say to me when Vernon is away or getting ready to leave.
"Well, i guess you're probably use to it by now, I bet it gets easier everytime" - to which i think (butdont normally respond) "Worth it, but not easy." The embrace at the airport always seems to be longer and deeper., neither wanting to let go but knowing the work in Sudan and furthering the Gospel is worth it.
So all that said, yes i cried, i always do. Yes, i took every moment of the last week, soaked it in and treasured it up in my heart. But i always wonder after i drive away from the airport...why dont i always embrace every moment?
So sisters, today look around your house, look into your children and your husbands eyes and treasure the moments you have.
I talked to Vernon, he made it to London fine. The meetings went great and very efficiently! Since they are so ahead on meetings they might get to go see Wicked which happens to be my very favorite musical. I am just sure Vernon will think of me the entire show...hehe!

What's on the Menu Monday
Well another week has flown by and i hope you all have enjoyed cooking this week! I have missed it tremendously...last Monday evening, mid cooking (for 12 people) our stove died. It took our landlord until today to get it fixed...but we have a brand new oven now! (they couldnt fix the other one!) So I have one last week to cook before Vernon heads to Sudan and I to Missouri.
On the menu today is a family favorite. It makes a great meal that needs no sides but pairs nicely with a fruit salad if you need more food. I kinda make shift this meal so measurements will be lacking, but give it a whirl! Everyone who makes it has their own way....so create yours!
I am not sure even what to call it so i will call it....
Sun Dried Pasta Chicken Yumminess!
3 servings of Bow Tie Pasta
3 Chicken breast
1/2 stick Butter
one yellow sweet onion
6 oz Sun Dried Tomatoes
1 cup Pine nuts
1 cup Half and Half (add more if you like it creamier)
1 package of shredded Parmesan
(i usually add cracked red pepper somewhere!)
Cut 3 chicken breasts in to bite size pieces and saute (until fully cooked) in a bit of olive oil and garlic.
Boil water and cook Bow Tie Pasta. Strain.
In separate skillet (needs to be large enough to hold everything at the end) melt a half stick of butter. When melted add one yellow sweet onion and approx 6oz of Sun-dried Tomatoes. (smaller sliced ones are better in my opinion) Cook with lid for 3 min. add pine nuts.
Add Chicken to onion/sdt mix and then add Pasta. Stir together and add half and half. Stir and add Parmesan.
Let sit and add more Parmesan.

On the menu today is a family favorite. It makes a great meal that needs no sides but pairs nicely with a fruit salad if you need more food. I kinda make shift this meal so measurements will be lacking, but give it a whirl! Everyone who makes it has their own way....so create yours!
I am not sure even what to call it so i will call it....
Sun Dried Pasta Chicken Yumminess!
3 servings of Bow Tie Pasta
3 Chicken breast
1/2 stick Butter
one yellow sweet onion
6 oz Sun Dried Tomatoes
1 cup Pine nuts
1 cup Half and Half (add more if you like it creamier)
1 package of shredded Parmesan
(i usually add cracked red pepper somewhere!)
Cut 3 chicken breasts in to bite size pieces and saute (until fully cooked) in a bit of olive oil and garlic.
Boil water and cook Bow Tie Pasta. Strain.
In separate skillet (needs to be large enough to hold everything at the end) melt a half stick of butter. When melted add one yellow sweet onion and approx 6oz of Sun-dried Tomatoes. (smaller sliced ones are better in my opinion) Cook with lid for 3 min. add pine nuts.
Add Chicken to onion/sdt mix and then add Pasta. Stir together and add half and half. Stir and add Parmesan.
Let sit and add more Parmesan.

A Titus Weekend of Fun

Thursday Titus and I went to the River with Sarah...so fun and we found a crab leg.
Friday we went to MayFest (a big fair in downtown Ft. Worth) with Rodney and Jessica
Saturday we went to Central Market and Titus got to play on the outdoor playground there, then we went to Church, which by the way was amazing.
Today we went to Church again and then we went to the Water Park at our YMCA.

WHAT? its already Thursday?
well friends i just realized it is already Thursday...and that, my friends, is craziness. I had great plans for my blog this week like, Titus Tuesday and Worldview Wednesday but i guess life had a different agenda. So here i am and its Thurday and i have so much to say that nothing is coming! So i guess for now i will tell a story about Titus that I had planned to write on Tuesday, save the Worldevents for next Wednesday and maybe ramble on a bit about Today!
on tuesday Titus and I were playing around and he was singing, although i couldnt quite figure out what it was that he was sing. when suddenly with a look of great concern on his face he turned and asked me..."mommy do you like it that Jesus says I'm in the way?" and i was taken aback and a bit confused so i replyed, "what baby?" and he repeated himself, "Mommy do you like it that Jesus said I'm in the way?" this time he was even more concerned. I responded, "why do you think that Jesus thinks you are in the way? He doesnt think you are in the way He has a great plan for your life!" To which he reponded with one of his memory verse songs, (to the tune of London bridges) "Jesus said Im in the way, in the way, in the way, Jesus said Im in the way..." and i quickly cut him off, trying hard not to laugh at his sweet mistake and told him that Jesus is saying HE IS the way, along with a brief explaintion.

In the day to day battles of motherhood it is easy to feel like what you are doing is just half rate, but that is so far from Truth. Today as you do what you do in a day, may you be encouraged that what you are doing is worth it, if done to the Glory of Christ. May your reflect him as you mother, as you serve your husband, as you do your school work or your job. May the Lord deal bountifully with you today sweet readers.
