Today is the day that around the world Muslims of all races start a 30 day fast to commemorate the receiving of the Qur'an. They are to fast from sun up until sundown. In addition, "Muslims are encouraged to read the entire Qur'an. 
Muslims tend to perform the recitation of the entire Qur'an by means of special prayers, called Tarawih, which are held in the mosques every night of the month, during which a whole section of the Qur'an (‘Juz', which is 1/30 of the Qur'an) is recited, so that by the end of the month the entire Qur'an has been completed" stated this very informative article from Wikipedia.

Millions of Muslims will be participating in Ramadan. This is a great time to begin relationships with Muslims around you, asking them about their faith and why they fast. Many wonderful resources are available to us as Christians, to help us pray specifically during the next 30 days and to educate us on Islam. (the photo is from Vernon's last visit to Uganda)

Hello! I was just browsing through and saw your talk about Muslims. My heart leaps for Muslims and sharing the gospel with them. In fact, my husband and I feel called to full time foreign missions, to Muslim people groups (not sure where at exactly yet--although most likely somewhere in the 10/40 window or Middle East). It's exciting that you posted about Ramadan--I knew it was either coming up, or happening right now. Anyways, have a great day!
wow, I almost yearn for Christians to love the word so much that we fast in this same way bc of God's grace that we have it and freely study it. I am humbled and convicted by this tradition- how much we have to learn about other faiths...and I know so little. Thanks for the insight... i need you to tutor me before Sudan!
