deep thoughts by titus burger

driving down the road on the way home from the ymca
Titus: Mom, when we go to heaven, Jesus will show us mercy
(shocked and thrilled that this came from his little mind)
Me: That's right Titus, if we believe in Him, Confess that He is the Savior and Follow Him

in bed after the prayer
Titus: mom, we need Jesus to save us
Me: that's right Titus
Titus: but not God (long thoughtful pause) because He is God (referring to Jesus)

at target after a lady startled me by banging though the warehouse doors in the back,
Me: whoa! that scared me
Titus: Mom, you should just trust God then you wont be scared.
Me: oh, thanks for reminding me of the Truth!

a good friend: Titus when's your birthday?
Titus: John 3:16

I love that his mind is being formed by the Truths of God's Word! I had to laugh though after the conversation about mercy i later found out he thinks mercy is a "she" and it is an actual object or person Jesus is going to show us! i love it! so i explained it to him just as we do every once in a while when we withhold a deserved punishment, that the action of with holding a due punishment is called mercy. He just nods and keeps on playing. Lord, One day, may it be soon, would you set Titus apart for Your work, call him to Yourself and save his little sweet soul.

What a sweet boy. It sounds like he understands the Truth more than many adults. What an encouragement from God that you are teaching him right.

I think Titus may be onto something with the Mercy being a lady that God will one day show us...
I looked up a couple scriptures on who mercy is, and I found these:

EXODUS 25:17: Thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold...

--This is clearly a chick seat. Dudes don't sit on gold seats...ever. We sit on logs, recliners, stools, and flushers. The only reason I could see for a man to sit on a gold seat would be if it were affixed to a gold Army tank. And since they didn't have tanks made of gold in the 1st century, I think it is safe to say that the Lord wanted us to make a lady-seat for Mercy.

PSALM 52:8: But I am like a green olive tree in the house of Elohim. I trust in the mercy of Elohim for ever and ever.

I wasn't sure what to make of this one at first, but then I remembered that trees grew in gardens back then, so maybe when Mercy is revealed to us, she will be a waitress at an Olive Garden. So if you ever go to an Olive Garden managed by a guy named Elohim, trust the waitress. FOR EVER.

ROMANS 12:8: He that sheweth mercy; with cheerfulness.

--This verse contains a very important typo that we cannot overlook. Paul's scribe clearly meant to write "shoeth" rather than "shewith" and if I'm right, this shows that not only are we required to give her a seat, but also to buy her shoes. And since God will be the one making the intros, we should at least give her one tenth of the shoes we have. And we should be very happy to buy her these shoes. And continue to trust her.

I'm not sure, but Titus might just have more wisdom in him than we might have first noticed. He's the coolest!!

And if, perhaps, you think I'm taking these scriptures out of context, don't even worry about it. I talked to God TODAY. He thought it was pretty funny.

Trusting mercy,

~J~
